I moved into a brand new single story ranch w/ basement last November, and in one bedroom the floor makes this annoying popping noise when you step in certain spots, and you can feel something as it pops. The floor is fully supported (I know this b/c I built it) with "Silent Floor" I-beam joists, but the sound seems to come from the subfloor itself and from where the floor meets two of the interior walls. There is a supporing wall almost directly underneath the wall where the noise is the greatest, so I can't understand what could be moving to make this noise. Any comments from experience would be great!

Well, maybe you missed a spot w/the floor screws.
Congrats on building the house, but even with owner construction and supervision, poopoo happens.

We had a 5 year old house that was REALLY built - right to 6 inch insulation in walls as well as ceiling. The supports were 2 x 10, and cross supported as well. And the floor creaked. Now I live in a 100 year old heritage house, with hardwood floors. They creak. Go figure. I just guess that it's changes in temperature or humidity - can't come up with anything else.
In the newer houses though, I would be really surprised if it wasn't the subflooring.

Sounds as though something didn't get nailed/screwed on the subflooring. Shouldn't be any creaks.

Every house has to settle, and that's what that one is doing..
