Try putting a piece of wax paper on the spot and heating with an iron- it should attach to the paper and lift off. Good luck.

If the fabric is moveable, take it and place it on your ironing board and with lots of newspaper, you will be absorbing the wax: Place Fabric first on the ironing board, then take a sheet of newspaper (or plain paper bag) and apply the hot iron to the paper, the wax will melt and alot of it willbe absrbed into the paper. Keep doing this until you see there is hardly any wax coming thru. THen you just have to deal with the stain. If the wax is on a sofa, or chair etc, take your iron to the furniture and plug it in there and do the same thing with the newspaper or paper bags.

If it is on upholstery or fabric put something hard underneath it make sure its not abrasive. Smack it with a non abrasive hard object on top using control and common sense to not damage the fabric. This should break up the wax into smaller particles. Whisk away or vacuum. Whats left you should be able to rinse away with very hot water. you may also chill the wax with ice before starting this process, it makes the wax harder and it will break up better. Don't put cleaning products on the black fabric you may cause color loss or fading in that area.

"An iron is the solution for removing wax from fabric. Place newspaper on both sides of the fabric to blot up the wax once it melts from ironing over the newspaper with a medium-hot iron. Replace newspaper as needed."

--excerpt from an Ask Annie column.

Hope this helps!

Lay a piece of brown paper over the wax, then press a heated DRY iron over the paper. The wax will transfer to the paper.

The answers using a hot dry iron and absorbent paper are correct. Be careful using newsprint as some inks may transfer to the fabric.

Give credit to the first brown paper answer. I bet "brown paper " came from the use of wrapping used for wrapping parcels or paper bags.

Put it in the freezer for a couple of days. This makes the wax harder and easier to remove. Also, you could use dry ice.
