If it was her first time having sex, it is normal to bleed.

Possibilities
o her hymen tore and caused the bleeding (was she a virgin?)
o another part of her vagina was traumatised and caused the bleeding (did they use a broken glass bottle?)
o she's had a bit of spotting
o she's had a really light period
o she's bleeding from somewhere else (eg. urine or rectum) (what else has she been up to? does she have a urinary infection?)

He took her virginity, perhaps she had sex before, but didnt burst the protective coating. It happens.
