I'd go for honesty. If you overslept, say so. If you forgot you were supposed to work, tell yer boss that's what happened. If they don't accept that you're fallible, let them hire the Pope.
What's worse than screwing up and missing work is screwing up, missing work, lie about the reason and be debunked. An honest rascal is a lot better than a liar.

Tell them that you got arrested the night before ,for something you didn't do, and that you had to spend you one phone call for a lawyer, but now its ok, cause i'm out !!

I will not offer up an excuse. You need to do the following:
1. Grow up
2. Be responsible for your actions or lack of
3. Be honest with your employer
You may get fired, but hey, lesson learned. You won't do that again.

i doubt they're gonna ask for an excuse now...whether you have one or not doesn't matter. you need an excuse for calling off...but when you don't show up it goes in your file, excuse or no excuse.
