Arranged Marriages, forced marriages, etc. in case you dont know what a forced marriage is, here it is. its a marriage in which the parents choose who their son/daughter gets to marry. the child has no say in the decision. if the child says no to the decision, the child can be disowned or even sometimes killed.
Some marriages, like modern arranged mariagges, the parents choose a few husbands/wives. the child may then spend a short amount of time with each of the choices perhaps an hour walk around the neighborhood, unsupervised.
So over all, how do u feel about forced marriages and arranged marriages?

its not right...how can someone else choose who you are going to spend the rest of your life with. however i can understand in some countries it is the tradition and if it works then ok, but i think if your child is adamantly against it why would you want to put them through that. and i can't believe that the child could be killed or disowned, this world is messed up

Forced marriages: NEVER!! Sometimes an arranged marriage might work out if the child has a say in it. Since most people get divorced when they choose on their own it would not be any worse.

There's a surprisingly low divorce rate for those, even when the couple moves to a country where divorce is OK. From what I've read, the couple has no expectation of being "so in love," so their expectations are different than in a traditional western marriage. The divorce rate is much lower than in marriages for "love", which are a fairly recent trend, at least in all but the middle classes. Until recently, the lowest and highest classes have traditionally married for advantage.
That said, I'm not in favor of it at all. I'd hate to be in that situation.

I'm against forced marriages. However, I have mixed feelings about arranged marriages. While I personally would not have wanted to be set up in an arranged marriages, I look at societies in which arranged marriages are commonplace and they generally seem to work.
Parents tend to set up their sons with someone who has a big dowry, while setting up their daughters with someone who can support them. If you look at western societies, the #1 thing couples fight about is finances; it's the biggest thing my parents fought about. And generally people in arranged marriages learn to love.

It depends on what the reason for having an arranged or forced marriage is. But I find it kind of wrong because you can't force somebody to love another person.

Simply put arranged marriage is not bad if the bride and groom are willing and happy about the decision. Forced marriage is absolutely deplorable and not needed!

They don't fit into today's society. If anyone tried to get me married with someone else against my will I'd go ballistic.

I personally would feel trapped and enslaved. But maybe we should be asking people whose culture does this to answer this question. They may have different opinions.

I don't agree with them, but people who live in those countries don't have other choices.
