My husband calls it a shaver, I call it a razor. It is the kind that uses attachable disposable blades (atra plus). So, is he insane or am I just picky in what I call things. I've always called it a razor, he has always called it a shaver. I am 38, he is 41.

That's funny. My boyfriend and I do the same thing! I say razor, he says shaver. He was raised in Wisconsin and I was raised in Indiana. I think that may have alot to do with it.

Personally I prefer razor, but whatever.
Both are correct I suppose!

I've always called a shaving device that holds a razor blade a "razor", as opposed to an electric "shaver."

Both are linguistically and gramatically correct. Razor is precise word. Shaver is abstract.
