i sense that it is copyright infringement to down load music from limewire and therefore illegal.
in which case, why is it so accessable? i would think that the majority of users are doing so illegally...could somone explain, is everyone just pretending its ok when its not, why doesnt limewire get into trouble? Or, How can limewire be used legally?

when you download music from the internet without paying you really have to throw away that whole mindset. lose it fast before the sheer amount of guilt drives you to jump off a cliff....

If you download Limewire and download even one song then that's doing something illegal there, because you took an artist's song without giving them any money for it. Limewire users get into trouble and end up having to pay fines because they used it, but I'm not quite sure why Limewire itself doesn't get in trouble. It is accessible because they have versions of it where you can pay per month which then is not illegal because you are paying money and not stealing the songs, but mostly everyone just uses the free version and steals the songs they want...very sad.

in case you acquire Limewire and acquire even one music then this is doing some thing unlawful there, because of the fact you took an artist's music without giving them any money for it. Limewire consumers get into trouble and finally end up having to pay fines because of the fact they used it, yet i'm no longer quite constructive why Limewire itself would not get in trouble. it somewhat is on the industry because of the fact they have variations of it the place you pays consistent with month which then isn't unlawful because of the fact you're paying money and not stealing the songs, yet often each physique in basic terms makes use of the unfastened version and steals the songs they %...very unhappy.

Limewire is a peer to peer program.
Peer to peer programs are legal.
If you upload copywrited stuff you are acting illegally but that is your problem not Limewires.
If you download copywrited stuff you do so illegally but that is not Limewires fault.
If you want to use Limewire or any other p2p program legally, only upload stuff on which you own copywrite and only download stuff with the copywrite holders permission.

Giving your stuff away free over the net is not illegal, many free music sites are legal; although the USA is trying to make it illegal for bands to give away their own music, the govt claim that they are being exploited.

depends i generally consider anything i hear over a radio as public domain i have the gear to convert radio to mp3 so i feel no twinge of guilt over those songs -regaurdless of actual sorce. If its unreleased to radio then it falls back to copyright laws and back to actually buying the cd's. Enventually limewire will be shut down just like napster and kazaa then we'll be using the new hustler on the corner when they come out. The record industry is just gonna have to evolve with the times.

Limewire is legal in itself, but downloading copyrighted songs it not. That is why Limewire doesn't get in trouble, because it is the users that put copyrighted stuff in there.

I'm pretty sure they're just doing the same thing as kazzaa and calling it somthing else to dance around the rules. I've also wondered about the legalities involved. It seems to work the same way as other p2p programs.
All the other programs "file share" ,but for some reason they're not legal...go figure.

I used the original Napster so I know a little bit about this.
If you are not paying a subscription for Copyright fees, or Royalties, then you are pirating, and that is illegal. You can be eventually traced via your computer's unique ID code, and then prosecuted for copyright infringement. You can also have your computer confiscated.

Only if you dont upload files to other people. It's not very safe though in Windows. If you want to use peer2peer safely then you should use http://ubuntu.com

BTW there is no way to shutdown limewire as it uses the gnutella protocol which is not a centralised system like napster was.

I wouldn't trust Limewire... it's easy to get a virus.
