I think that is a wonderful idea and gift for the 50th! Maybe because it is the big 50, you know, "over the hill",lol, you can always get a gag gift too if you have that kind of a friendship with him. : ) Have fun! I'd say your present though is more than plenty, very nice and considerate of you!!! Enjoy his party!

A $100 gift to a manager will not be viewed as anything less than an effort to brown-nose.

Even if he was your brother, unless you are made of money and throw it around all the time, $100 is too much!

It is the thought, not the $$ amount that counts. Find something very unique and not so costly . . .unless you always throw around money like that.

If you know him well enough to treat him as brother maybe a small token gift along with the gift card might be nice. Something that shows him that you know him like a gift that reflects something he likes alot (if he likes fishing the gift card and card can be attached to a new fishing hat or something like that)

It's nice you think of him this way.
Instead of a gift card do something more personal.
Take him out for the night.
You probably know his interests, horse racing, gambling, dancing, wrestling, race cars, car show, whatever.
You could take him out for a good dinner and some drinks at his fav. pub.
Whatever you choose, the point is do something together, he'd appreciate it alot more and have a great time.

Not really you are OK with that, but instead of a gift card from a particular store get him credit card gift card, so that he buy and use wherever he wants.

Thats nice....but if he's like your brother you could get him something more personalized and original than a gift card.

Why not go "50" for the 50 mark?????

Sounds reasonable to me.

But, one question, why are you hung up on an appropriate amount?
