Its hard to answer this question because so many different parts are involved. Is it fair to watch someone suffer at the hands of some incurable disease? Or to have a person in a persistant vegatative state to continue to live like that? First off, unless it is our family member that is like that, then none of the rest of society really has a say in it. If its YOUR grandmother that is lying in a hospital bed, dying from something like pancreatic cancer, which is notorious for being a painfully, fatal disease, would you want her to suffer like that? Thats something that each of us decides in our hearts and minds for someone we love.

This is a hard question, however if a person suffers to the point that painkillers do not help anymore and that person wants to die, she/he should have the right to die. If one is in agony all the time, what is there to live for. The old cliche still holds true: We put animals that suffer to sleep, why is it so controversial to put us to sleep, especially when we're begging for mercy. I would like to have the right to ask for something to end my pain. The only thing that one has to consider, that I would be of sound mind and body and able to sign with a lawyer and doctor present.

I think it is a reasonable solution to a bad end. Although I think it should be almost mandatory due to old age in some people. When a person has memory problems to the point they cant remember one day to the next or they cant in any way care for themselves then they should be painlessly put to sleep. We are all animals and it's nature, the survival of the fittest. I would want to be put out of my and most likely my childrens misery if I became a burden in this way

i just had a speech about this for my speech class..i am completely in favor of Euthanasia. i dont think people should be forced to suffer and thats exactly whats happening - theyre being forced to suffer..i think its a person's choice on how, when and where they decide to end their lives and i dont think the government, the church, society or any other entity should control such a decision.

I believe we have a moral obligation to care for those who cannot care for themselves and to be there to help the person who is suffering and in pain. I personally believe that euthanising a human being, or animal, is interfering with God's plan and intentions. I am against euthanasia. Take care.

As a physician I think in certain cases it would be an ideal solution to suffering.
