Yes, this is very unprofessional. The most you can do about it though; is to report her. I know for a fact if medical personnel get enough complaints, something is done about it.
I had a similar situation the other day. I had to go to a doctor for a post-surgical visit. I weigh about 146lbs. and am 5'2". He told me I was VERY obese and should not weigh one pound over 120 for my height. He said, I should immediately loose 26lbs. I know I am moderately overweight, but the way he said it was very rude and unprofessional. It is is sad but it seems like doctors with all there know how, and experience loose one thing; humanity. They get a God complex which makes them feel as if they can say anything to anyone. They need to be taught compassion, and putting themselves in the same situation as the patient. They start believing they know are bodies better than we do.

When you work in the health industry, you come across all shapes and sizes. That nurse should defiantly be reprimanded. She is a nurse and her job is to simply take your blood pressure, your temperature and weigh you without any judgment! Talk to your primary care physician and write a complaint letter to your health plan administrator.

Did you complain or what? STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!! First of all, she has no right to call you fat....second of all, even if you did break the scale, she shouldn't go around telling people. finally, GET A NEW DOCTOR!! someone that knows how to choose a professional staff! and of course someone with good credentials.

did you break the scale? You might of! And come on, you are overweight! If you say your not ashamed of it then why does her comment bother you! Why do you weigh that much..hum probably from lack of proper diet and exercise- all which can be corrected. I dont recommend complaining about something unless you have a solution or contrustive feedback.

If you are not making this up, that person should be professionally disciplined. Complain to the doctor or hospital in writing, she will regret it. Medical professionals are required to be sympathetic and helpful, not inconsiderate and adolescent.

You need to tell the doctor what she did and she needs to be reprimanded. If the doctor doesn't deal with her I would find a new doctor. Her treatment of you and making fun of you to others was really wrong.

you could definitely have her job! There is no reason for her to say anything like that, nurses are to be seen and not heard.
