i would just bring like a notebook and a pen, you don't really need anything else (from my experience) unless a specific class told you to bring stuff or somethign

For a community or junior college...you should just bring a spiral notebook with pen or pencil if you want to take notes. The first day is usually a day where the instructor tells you what is to be expected from their class. Professors will give you a syllabus and a class schedule. These are used for your own benefit to keep up with class assignments. It also will tell you what extra school supplies you will need for class. Otherwise, you bring your own school supplies what you feel comfortable with taking to your classes.
For universities...it is usually different. You do start off on the first day so be prepare and bring all those school supplies what you were thinking about bringing. It will be helpful.
You would only look like a nerd if you feel that way! Yeah they do have colleges where students who got out of high school that come like it was a playground all over again. For example, I go to a community college where students who were once in high school and even the older ones still be gossip about people.

It's not so serious that you need to be worried about being the only one with books. I'd bring them, but only take in the ones you need for the specific class and leave the rest in your car. In between classes you can go to your car and swap out so you don't have to carry them all around. On the first day the prof. will usually just review the syllabus and what she expects out of you for the class, but some will dive into coursework on the first day especially if the class only meets once per week. I always try to look studious and give the impression that I care so the professor will favor me so I would advice bringing the books for that reason. Good luck with school!!!!!!

I think that everyone will bring all their stuff too. I would definitely bring a bookbag. And if you don't want to look like your a nerd or anything, just bring all that can fit in your bag. That's what I'd do. And then you can bring what you need the next day. But definitely bring your laptop and at least a notebook.

You don't need your laptop, I promise. It's always good to have a notebook and some pens on the first day, but few professors expect you to have the book. If you already bought it, though, I'd bring it, just to make sure you have the right one.

You should bring everything you think you may need. Perhaps you may look like a bit of a "nerd"-- but it's better than being unprepared.
No one will remember the first day, anyway. They'll either have their own supplies, or be busy looking for them.
Having a bookbag to carry all your stuff is perfectly socially acceptable. There will probably be others who have them as well.
Good luck with your first day!

I didn't bring a book bag my first day because they were so lame in high school. In college book bags are back. I never go without one. (it is especially great in the rain)
