Can anyone explain to me why people continue to use cell phones at a movie theater? I can see using it before the movie starts but after it starts is just being ignorant. Have some respect for other people, get up off your butt and go in the lobby. Some will say, well it's my right. It is your right but show some respect and show some class and turn them off when at a theater. We don't need to hear your problems.

Anyone agree? Disagree?

society has no rules for cell phones, believe it or not people once lived without cell phones and when you left home no one could get ahold of you before you came home again. there are so many people that really get upset if you don't answer your phone all the time. My advise unless you have kids and you need to keep in contact with them for emergencies. Leave the phone in the car, or turn it off for the movie. Do not talk on it in the theater, if you have to take a call go out into the lobby and talk. whew...i feel better now :)

i totally agree. it is disrespectful. in a recent poll people found cell phones more offensive than people talking to another face to face because on a cell phone, you can't hear what the other person is saying and it gets annoying because curiousity can get the best of you. for me its not curiousity as much as they talk so damn loud on those things!! i feel the same way when people take babies to a movie theater. i'm sorry, if you can't find a baby sitter, sorry about your luck but you should stay home. babies cry through the whole movie sometimes. i've had many movies ruined over cell phones, babies, and really annoying old people that laugh right in your ear and talk about every joke for ten minutes. glad you brought it up, needed to vent

Actually, it is not their right to use the cell phone in the theater. A place of business is allowed to have reasonable rules to ensure that all customer are enjoying themselves. Every theater I go to warns to turn off the cell phones. You can report the serious offenders to the workers and insist that they be removed from the theater if you want.

i completely agree. there are many habits people have at movies that are annoying. some things i cant stand...
1. people that take their infant children to the late night screening....get a freakin babysitter or rent a movie!!
2. people that show up right as the movies starts on opening weekend then need an entire row to move over one to that way they can sit together....if you late don't expect 15 or more people to move over once the movie has started just so your *** can be comfy.
3. freaked out little kids at a scary movie...if your so frekin scared that you have to grab onto to your best friend during the movie maybe your *** should be watching a Disney movie, don't go to a scary movie just to get freaked out and then spend 15 min giggling about how creepy that moment was while the rest of us are trying to watch the rest of the movie.
4. text messaging in movies...this is as bad as answering your phone, don't you think the stupid light is annoying and distracting
5. people that are too busy making out...if you want to just make out with someone watch a movie that no one really wants to watch and sit in the very back, i don't want to have to see you swap spit while I'm trying to enjoy a movie.
6. talking...i don't want to hear you analyzing every scene of the movie and explaining things to you friend or date, just shut up and enjoy it.

No one has "the right" to talk on the phone during a movie or play for that matter. It falls into the idea put forward by John Stuart Mill that your right to swing your arm ends at the tip of your neighbor's nose. I did not go to the theater to hear you gossip or bull ****. I went to see a show. If I can't hear that show because of you, you are in violation of my rights.

It's hard to disagree with.

I don't know who will say that it's their right to disturb other people's movies. Cell phones must be turned off as per rules in all theatres that I know of.

If you have an important call coming up, postpone your movie to another time. Alternatively, sit where you can get out without disturbing anybody and set your phone to vibrate.

I thought that is forbiden to use cell phone in movie theatres. I think that people who use them should be thrown out of theatre. If they don't want to turn them off they shuld just put them on silent and afther movie check who call them. There is no excuse for talking on the phone in moveis and only primitive and ignorant people do that. People comes to see movie and not to hear their privat stuffs.
Agree with you all the way!

If you bring a cell phone to a public venue, please either put it on vibrate or silent. I know I bring my cell phone to places, only for emergencies. If you go to the movies, definitely use it before you even sit down in the theater (use it in the lobby). 'Cause during previews you really can't hear anything. Besides we don't want to hear your drama.

I don't talk on my phone during movies, I absolutely hate it when people do that! I do text message, which may annoy some people, but, at least I'm not talking on my phone! Lol.... I do keep it on vibrate, instead of loud during the movie....
