I understand their sense of pride, however, there are thousands of people who are effectively paying their wages (i.e. the supporters)whom they have let down.

I think the Pakistani Team is absolutely right in not taking the field. They have been accused of cheating, and it is based on assumption as the umpire has not pointed out any instance where they saw the ball being tampered. Remember Petersen hit a few big shots ball could easily have lost shape by hitting anything in the ground!
If anyone falsely accuses me of cheating I would do the same. ( I am Indian , I usually am always hoping Pakistanis to loose as we are always up against each other :) but in this case I totally agree with Inzi

Rickashe - errant nonsense - a massive and ludicrous over reaction by a team who knew they were on the way to losing the initative in a game they should be winning.... The laws of cricket simply state that if (and this is always going to be in the eopinion of the umpire as are all decisions, such as 'Given that the ball that hit Andrew Strauss outside the line of the stumps and was going on to miss leg stump, should I give him out LBW???') the ball has been altered by the fielding side then the umpires shall act exactly as they did. the laughable thing was that the Pakistani official said the ball was in the condition you;d expect given that a lot of sixes had been hit off it - sorry, mate, KP's 2 big sixes came AFTER the ball had been changed. Damn right that Hair refused to take the field after Pakistan took stock and saw what eejits they would be seen as... saying they 'wanted to put the matter behind them' - not their choice to make. they failed to take the field, the bails were removed, match over, Pakistan forfeit the game and any other outcome is a farce.

NO they are not..
we were called cheater and theives and we are not..
Darrel hair should prove it with 29 cameras on the ground ..
Now he should prove it and show the ball to media as inzimam has demanded
IF not their should be a radical change in tolerance of racialism from ICC
In the past Pakistan has registered countless protests in vain against racialist and biased umpires who bring bad name to game..
What the hell this guy was thinking?we have had enough..first that david shepherd dude kept giving decisions against us ..and he was chosed as the umpire in 1999 world cup final despite our protest..
this darrel hair has had a long history of quarrels with Asian teams ..
I back our captain inzimam 100%,do the hell with this test, its not about england is about our innocence,if an honour of a "Gentleman"allows england to keep the "awarded" match, they should very well keep it(what happened to good old fashioned
british manners?)

Consider is as a "gift"from their Pakistani friends..(we enjoy ood terms with english board and UK)
After all what are friends for:)

Its not up to the umpire to PROVE anything. Most decisions regarding the playing conditions and the laws of the game are down to the OPINION of the umpire. In fact, his is probably the case in most sports. If you don't wish to abide by the umpire/referee's rulings in any sport, then don't bother playing, which is what the Pakistanis did.

I thought all this ball tampering allegations stuff was done away with years ago. Shame to see it spoiling a good day of cricket.

Inzamam is not wrong to stand up if he really feels theres an injustice but you have to keep good sportsmanship going and he should think of the fans who are going to feel really cheated if this and any other match gets cancelled.

Pakistan could have just left the field when the umpires said they were cheating (yes they have the right to), not wait til after tea and then just delay the whole match !! And then they started to blame the umpires for not wanting to play ?!?!? daft.

If the reason why they're not coming out is justified, let them go a head

Cricket sucks... Whtas the point in having a final test if England have already won the series? If Ireland took cricket seriosuly we'd kick the English asses just like we do in rugby :-p
