Absolutely not! Remember darrel hair is the same guy who accused Muralitharan. So this guy surely has something against Asians! You can not make sucha serious accusation without really pointing at any instance!

The umpires (rightly or wrongly) enforced the rules according to the laws of cricket. Any effort to continue play tomorrow will have serious repercussions, and will mean that any team, when they feel hard done by, will just stay in the dressing room. Darryl Hair is a very rough and ready character but one can;t help feeling Dickie Bird (easily the greatest umpire ever) might have handled things in a not dissimilar way - if Pakistant won't come out and resume the game, they lose - then sort out the implications later. He's not really a trouble maker - Murali's action is, and always has been, suspect - but mainly due to a physical deformity which prevents him fully extending his arm. And why is the award of 5 runs to England a bigger deal than giving Strauss lbw out to a ball that was missing the stumps and pitching outside the line??? I;d sooner have the five runs knocked off and Strauss back in...

I think it could have been a potentially very damaging accusation and I really hope he had good evidence for making it. It could result in this game being forfeited and lots of fans being disappointed and problems between the Pakistan/England sides for years to come!

My BF has tickets for the England/Pakistan ODI at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on 30 August and he's gutted to think it might be cancelled, he's been really looking forward to it.

Making an accusation like this could cause real problems with international test cricket in the future. Cricket has always been a game of good sportsmanship where you don't get the violence and aggression you find in a game like football and I would be really disappointed to think that a rashly made accusation could damage all this.

At the end of the day the people who are going to suffer from this will be the fans who are going to miss out on the matches they were looking forward to. The fans are who make any sport what it is and they shouldbe put first IMHO.

no because he has already accused pakistan before of cheating and there the only team he has accused so people may rate him a racist and he has no proof or video-footage of the pakistani team messing with the ball. he only accused them once the ball started reverse swingin but in the ashes series he did accuse england when they were reverse swinging it. i think that pakistan are right in protesting because darrel hair has no proof and it is also a big thing being accused of ball tampering

Its difficult to imagine that Hair was making it up. He needed to confer with the other field umpire and the third umpire was consulted. Of course the Pakistani team are going to claim innocence but I have enough faith in the umpires to believe that there was sufficient evidence to accuse the fielding side of ball tampering.

On the TMS message boards it was rumoured that the umpires found a fingernail in the quarter seam of the ball, whether or not this is true will clearly come out in the fullness of time.

I think the way in which Pakistan protested against the decision was childish and improper. I think that they should have played on, in all probability won the test match, then made a formal complaint to the ICC. In my opinion Pakistan are most at fault for the end of what looked like being a really good, exciting end to a test match.

At least this means that the appalling shot that KP played on 96 will be largely ignored now...

No he is a cheat and a racist.
The odds on England winning that game were 100 to 1 against and I reckon he took the money, either directly or indirectly.

If he had solid proof, he should have presented it. his action is tantamount to accusing someone of cheating, which is the EXACT reason why the Pakistan captain and team are protesting.

i think that hair has no right to point at any1 and say that they r a cheater............................and if he thinks he's right so..why doesn't he just show a proof..............................well buddy..........but lets see wat happens next................the decision will be made on friday I expect....Ofcourse Pakistan were right in protesting...as Nasser Hussain said that they are a proud nation....Hair damaged their dignity.....ICC are stupid in not punishing or even questioning him.
