The point of general ed training at the college level is too create a more highly educated person with a broader field of knowledge. I know I learned far more about history, math, writing, and science in college than I did in high school. Also, many students choose their majors based on their general ed classes.

If the rest of the world was ahead of the U.S. intelligence-wise, it might be because the people in many other countries don't whine if told to take general ed classes. They simply take them because they are unaccustomed to having the freedom to express their opinions when told to do something they'd rather not.

Using the phrase "rest of the word" implies that all the world is ahead of us. While there are certainly countries with superior educational systems, I'm sure we'd agree that this does not imply to all the other countries in the world.

So, take your general education classes and while in English/Language Arts during your freshman year, pay particular attention when your professor discusses the inappropriate use of extreme modifiers.

i don't think so...

other countries schools systems and set up very different....
some, like germany, sometimes you choose if you wanna go to college or train for a job instead(after schooling is finished, much earlier than highschool does for us) when your like in 5th grade or younger.....
its just all diferent, so its hard to compare...

and i don't think that the rest of the world is ahead of the U.S. in intelligence....... i'd like to see where you got that idea....

Students who stay in hs in the US don't get a GED degree when they graduate from hs.

GED are equivalent to a hs diploma, but are for mature students who quit hs for many years.

You need either a GED or a HS diploma to get into college or university, not both.
