Totally it seems as if people had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much time on their hands back in them days.

That the passage of TIME has an effect on beliefs?
This, I believe, is realistically manifest in our historical records.

That once an apparent reality is considered?
All subsequent input --- then becomes redundant rehashing?

How can this (your reality) be so?
Without a 'proof' positive (absolute) and/or possible - nothing philosophical can be considered redundant.

Philosophy is the love of learning, so how does learning get redundant?....Check your dictionary! Truths bend as our world change but philosophy seeks wisdom too.

Every discipline can get like that, philosophy helps one to expand their intellectual horizons. To be broad minded, not narrow minded. There are philosophers that I have read that I don't agree with, but I understand their positions. The only other discipline as fasinating as Philosophy is Mathematics.

No.You always have some philosophy,consciously or otherwise ..Even thinking that there is no rhyme or reason in life is a philosophy.

Not really, aside from the fact it deals with all the big questions it also gives you a set of really useful mental skills such as the abillity to analyse, think logically and spot bullsh**t.

Thats the beautiful thing about it, it repeats on people until they get it or are doomed to keep at it.when they expect a different outcome they are certifiable!

nope... we all build on to the original philosophy, to better it or dispute it... but it all have to come from somewhere.
