No way reading is a very helpful recreation where as it can be for fun and can be for learning and anyone that tells you that you read too much is just an idiot any way.

From someone who has been an avid reader since around 2nd grade, I would say possibly. Reading all of the time can make someone slightly antisocial. I know it probably has had something to do with my being withdrawn. It can lead to having a kind of complex....like feeling as if you dont fit in with the rest of the world because maybe you have been so withdrawn from it by traveling to other worlds in books. Basically, it comes down to the person and how they wish to live their life. Personally, I think the benefits of reading, such as a bigger vocabulary and a higher understanding of people's actions, outweigh the downsides. But it is a personal decision.

I get told that I read too much often. I would chose a good book over a crappy party any day (being in high school does not help my situation). But I don't think you can read too much unless you somehow become too absorbed and go insane/refuse to go out at all.

Nope, reading helps keep your mind healthy because your thinking, comprehending, and imagining. It also helps with your vocabulary. Studies have shown that people who read a lot are
less likely to develop conitive issues as they age.

There are two ways people can read too much. FIrst, if they read low quality material it won't educate them much. Second they may hurt their eyesight by reading in improper conditions of poor lighting and posture.

I'd say it's good to read as often as you can but don't let it turn you anti-social. It's okay that you love books but you shouldn't cut out human contact so the you can be alone and read.

yes, I read alot, but life is more important...If you read so much that you miss out on the real world, its a bad thing. Also, if your eyes start to hurt, its probably quiting time.

Probably, and if so, I'm guilty of it! I would rather read than do just about anything else (ok, with the possible exceptions of sex and sleeping...!) and consequently, I'm often way behind on my chores/errands/house maintenance/social obligations.
Not that I'm proud of that, or anything...
