Does it embarass you to ask your date for money because i went on a date with my guy and it was more expencive that he thought it would be so i had to spot him a few dollars. i thought nothing of it but the rest of the date he was very quiet and seemed sort of angry. was it because of the money? and if it was what should i say/do if it happens again to make him feel better?

It is a matter of honor on a date, but I would also be humiliated if I took my best male friend out and was short of cash....but eventually in the relationship, the barriers come down and we can be normal. Now he is trying to impress you and it was a blow to his ego that he failed in a small way. He wasn't angry with you, he was angry with himself. In his eyes he failed you. Make it up to him by asking him for some small money...and give him a chance to shine......you'll both like the results....his pride will be restored and you'll have a happy guy.

Yes, I'll bet he was sort of angry because he didn't have enough money and so he was feeling embarrassed & resentful and didn't know how to deal with his feelings or with yours, either. I don't know if you should be too concerned with making him feel better - it sounds to me like the guy must be immature or at least short on social skills, and you'll have to judge whether he has enough redeeming qualities for you to want to want to keep going out with him. Mabe he does. But it shouldn't be up to you to have to make him feel better, it should be up to him to plan his expenditures better and learn to express appreciation when someone helps him generously, as you did, without getting mad & sulky about it. Good luck, Swiss_Miss!

You should've offered to pay half, then at least he wouldn't have felt so bad because he was able to talk you out of paying for 1/2 the meal and only needing a couple bucks to borrow.

No, he was embarrased but appreciateive about the money, but angry about the cost of the date. That's what I think. Just subtly tell him, it's all right, that you didn't mind chipping in, even if it was unexpected. That you thought nothing of it, like you just said.

It showed that he was not paying proper attention to detail. He should taken you to a place that he could afford. Tell him that you like being with him, and the money spent is not important to you, he is.

Yeah, I'm with Frank on this one. Ask him to buy you a treat or something. What can I say, we guys are just as vulnerable as you girls. We want to be mr. Bigshot who know everything.

yeah a lil bit, but when you're with a girl for a while you end up splitting bills anyway, cuz let's be honest here...some guys can't afford to pay for everything.
