There really is no such thing as ownership of land. All you can do is own the right to do some things, but not everything or anything.

I can give you one example...imminent ( or emminent)domain. This is where the government forces you to sell you home and property to them for reasonable value in order for them to build some type of building that can be used for the public. For instance, they can make you sell your house/property if they feel it is a good location to put a hospital, mall, etc...

as long as their is property tax you never really own it in the true sence,it's still like renting from the Government,can't take it with you anyway though,and iron rights
