Same reason the Reds lose to the Pirates, but can beat the Cardinals and Astros. Some teams just get up more to play a certain team.

The Cubs always play harder against the Cards but they also have nothing to lose becaise they are pretty much out of contention which makes them more dangerous.

Same with the entire Central. Cards can win against any other team, but once they start playing in their own division they seem to lose against everyone.
