First off depends on where you live, if you want to be outside or inside and the age of the granddaughter. The best thing is a zoo, a real SO, there are Many around and are fun for all ages, if you want something outside with a little less walking try a water park where you buy a pass for all the rides and take a picnic lunch with you to spend the entire day. If you want something inside try a art center or museum, they generally have things geared towards different age groups that all can enjoy. If all else fails, contact the visitors center in the area you are going to or look it up on line. Good luck and have fun...

Thanks for telling us where you live and how old your granddaughter is. If you live in Anaheim, go to Disneyland and your daughter gets in free- oops you didn't say how old. Also, you might live in Maine- the plane flight and hotel would cost more than $100 then. . If you live in Death Valley, have a water gun fight- unless you live in Alaska. Play with dolls unless your granddaughter is 35 and you are 90. Good question.

Any vegetable farms in your area? I love going with my kids to "pick your own" veggie farms....often they have horse rides or other things on site to enjoy (petting zoo, cafe etc..) Plus gives kids a chance to see how produce comes from nature. You can pick something then bring it home and make something out of it...pie, dessert, salad etc...

Also another idea is a farmers market. Then you can shop for produce or other foods, get a meal or snack, see lots of crafts and vendors good, even a livestock auction sometimes! (my kids love those, very exciting for them). Often there are a lot of buskers etc...to see.

Good luck finding something fun.

Considering the price of gas, and not knowing the childs age, or your location, I would say miniature golf, petting zoo, or a trip to the park (one with swings)

Go to a local park, a zoo. It really does depend on where you live. Have a picnic.

Going for a picnic, or the fair, or go to the beach....basically anything in nature, because it's free.
