Just curious, are there any known examples of animals other than humans who display homosexual behavior? Thanks.

If you define gay as homosexual in the sense that one member of a species is involved in intimate contact with another member of the same species of the same anatomical sex, then yes, it does occur in the animal kingdom. Just look up the "gay" penguins at the Central Park Zoo. In terms of whether or not animals engage in homosexual intercourse with one another i.e. anal penetrative sex between males, I don't know. But, males often mount and attempt to copulate with one another as well as two females mounting each other. This happens all the time in pigs, cattle, rats. There are well documented occurences of "lesbian" seagulls who build nests together. So, yes, I agree. P.S. I am a grad student in reproductive physiology, so you can judge the accuracy of this info.

Bonobos, a close relative of the chimp, display all sorts of homosexual behavior all the time. They regularly engage in both male/male and female/female sexual contact. Scientists believe that this is part of how they maintain bonds between eachother in their groups. Bonobos are quite promiscuous by our standards and have sex with several partners daily.

Over 450 species have been known to show homosexual actions, including cats and dogs.

I don't think so, because I don't think homosexuality is a "natural" behaviour in nature, if it were there could only be one generation of "homosexual animals" because they couldn't have any offspring, some animals are more "promiscuous" and generally are believed to be "homosexula animals"

Cats are known to have homosexual behaviors. That's as far as I know. I strill believe it's only a human trait.

our dog is a male wheaten terrier, and he humps people. the strange thing is, is that he only humps male humans... and i know for sure that dogs can distinguish our sexes via smell, so maybe he is a homosexual.
