Definitely, mobile phones can do almost everything nowadays so soon I'm sure it'll all just merge into one tiny phone! They'll be no need for anything else!

look at the HP 6900 series PDA, you'll notice that the mobile phone has moved to a PDA. The PDA offers a better (if somewhat larger) platform to run more and better applications. The touch screen versatility and ability to upgrade memory with better application availability also make PDA's a better choice. For me personally I have an HP2490 and an Orange SPV600 smartphone, both run WM5 but.... the phone is only used as a phone, I use my PDA for anything else.
Hope this helps

I agree with Big Daddy, it seems that PDA makers are moving into the Smart Phone market. Look at Palm for example, they have a big hit with their Treo line of smart phones.
Mobile phones alone will never replace PDAs, but my prediction is that every PDA maker will either add a SmartPhone to their lineup, or possibly quit producing plain PDAs altogether.

Not necessarily. Some companies have actually combined the two creating the perfect phone/pda in one. While they are not actually as small as say some of the Nokia's, they are great, and you can even pop in SD cards (now up to 2 GB) to carry music to listen to and play some games on the phone (like Bejeweled and other games.)

PDA with Skype Mobile = Free calls while in a WiFi spot. Keep a prepaid cell phone in da car for emergencies and save 30-100 dollars a month on your phone bill.
Well, it works for me, at least. But I'm almost always either at work, or at home.... I guess most people have a social life. :)

Yes in some limited way.
However the screen size of a PDA will always win over the screen on a Phone.
The other advantage is doing several things at once. I will never have every thing in one, it is just to restrictive.

I work in the mobile data industry and the trend is actually the other way.... just look at Nokia and Sony Ericsson's road map to see that most devices are going to end up getting bigger again to accomodate more data usage.
Most people are looking for true mobility now and with Wifi and HSDPA becoming widespread, the need for data is growing.
The One Who Knows (nothing) - You wouldn't float either with my foot on top of your head.... we can try that later if you like... xx
