In the great painting of Raphael (1490), the Lodge of Athens, he presents in the middle the two philosophers, pupils of Socrates Plato and his pupil Aristotle. Aristotle is presented holding his book: Ethics!
All our positive moral and ethics is based on Aristotle philosophy, presented in his book Ethics.
Of course, there is a lot of influence by christianity, but it is based on punishment, not in moral and ethics, like of the Greek philosophy!

Aristotle in his Nicomachean Ethics, teaches the virtue of the mean. For example, fear and confidence, for Aristotle, excess of confidence is rashness. The deficiency is cowardice, the mean is courage. In all things moderation.
