Patches - are you meaning white spots like tie dye?

There is a method called vat dyeing that I use frequently to dye large pieces of fabric that make the entire item one color. You can use your washing machine, or do it out in the yard in a big plastic tub - either way works well.

Don't use Rit - get a tie dye kit or buy the supplies from Dharma trading. The dye needs to be fiber reactive - like the Procion brand. You need to set the dye with soda ash to make it work.

i use rit dye with no problem. just make sure you disolve it in a jar before you add it to the machine and make sure the item is clean, not stained, and thoroughly wet before you put it in the machine. don't try to dye too much at once, follow the package suggestions for proper amount.

Go to Dick Blick . com and get a real dye if you want good results. Over the counter is a bit iffy.
