The Drs. say not to give your baby, baby food until they are about 4 1/2 to 5 months old, but, I am a monther of 3, ages 4, 3, and 7 months, I started my kids on baby cereal at the age of 2 weeks, YES 2 weeks and by the time they were 2 months they were eatting baby fruits mixed with formula out of a bottle, than by the time they were 4 months eatting from a spoon, it is up to you on what you would like to do and how to feed our baby, my kids have always been healthy , active , fat little babies, good luck to you and your baby.

I was told to wait until 5-6 months. I was also told once bottle's were not enough for her (about 34oz a day), then it would be ok to start.
We started with rice cereal in her formula, then rice cereal, then fruits and veggies.
We were told to do yellows first, then orange foods, then greens last- the greens were most likely to cause gas was the rationale.
Wait about 3 days before introducing a new food. This way if baby has a reaction to one type of food, you'll know which one it was.

He shouldn't even be having the cereal yet. His gut doesn't have the enzymes needed to digest it. The AAP clearly states that ALL babies should eat at this age is formula or breastmilk. Solids should not be started until 4-6 mos old. (Preferably 6 mos.) Hold off on giving him anything else until he is 6 mos old and consider cutting out the cereal. You are increasing his chances of obesity, diabetes, allergies, asthma and all kinds of other things by feeding him solids too early. Solid foods are for fun and practice in the first year and should not be fed this early. Breastmilk or formula needs to be making up ALL of his nutrition at this age!

Babies should not have cereal until at least 3.5 months unless their doctor says so. Baby food should not be given until at least 6 MONTHS because if you give food earlier than this, it can make them more inclined to have allergic reactions to the food and allergies as they get older. At your baby's age right now, he needs all the formula/breastmilk he can get in a day to get everything he needs for development. cereal should not be taking the place of that, even if it is a little bit. It doesn't matter how tired you are, or how much extra sleep it helps baby get, either. Unless your doctor gave you the go-ahead on cereal I would discontinue right now!

be careful on giving your baby jar food and cereal too soon. don't be in a hurry. babies that young do not have a fully developed sense of swallowing and can choke very easily. introducing food too early can also cause severe food allergies. at least 6 months for the jar food.

If the baby is eating ceral out of a bowl instead of a bottle then you can start feeding the baby stage 1 foods now. But if you are feeding ceral out of the bottle then you need to stop doing that and put it the bowl and feed your baby with a spoon let them get use to the spoon then you can feed stage 1 foods.

I believe doctors are saying around 4-5 months these days. Although a couple years ago you werent supposed to give them ANYTHING until they were a year old.

But my mother and grandmothers gave everyone of their kids solids when they were about 2-3 months old. lol.

I think holding off until 4 months is probably best for the baby's digestive system.

I storngly suggest you log onto Donna Gates Web site for guidence, to prevent repeating bad diet practices. She has discovered diet plays a major role in ADHD and Autism developing in our children.

Four months is when your baby needs to take cereal for the first time. About six months, begin with commercial products or better still and much less expensive is to puree your own vegetables and fruits. When you are preparing your own meals, take a litle unseasoned food for baby. You don't need expensive equipment either if you can't afford them. with a spoon and strainer you can seive vegies and fruits easily, it just takes time.

Don't combine foods. Keep servings separate, this way you can determine if your child has a sensitivity to certian foods.

Never add salt to baby food or sugar. There is enough natural salt and sugar in our fresh raw foods.
We have all become conditioned to aquiring a taste for more salt/ more sugar. Don't begin this trend with your infant. Do not ever give your child cows milk. If you are not breast feeding use formular as directed until child is at least 12 months of age. Also avoid all dairy foods including eggs until this age.
Cultured dairy is fine and fermented foods are excellent as first foods and to continue with.

Many digestive health and other health conditions in adults have developed because of inappropriate diet intake as babies and children. Raw and fresh is best.

2 1/2 months is a little early even for just cereal...usually when they lose the reflex that makes them spit everything out is a good time to give them solids. Now is too early simply because the gastrointestinal tract is EXTREMEMLY immature...wait until about 41/2 months then start experimenting...a couple of spoonfulls at a time once a day and the same veggie for a week (green veggies are good to start off with, avoid starting with fruits) and continue that until your baby decides he wants more

My doctor said 4 months is when they begin swallowing solids correctly. Both of my daughters started at 4 months. My 15 year old is thin and has no allergies. My 7 month old is perfect height and weight and loves her food.
