I'm trying to save water. I'd like to dump the water from my dehumidfier into my washing machine. Is there any reason why I should not do this?

The dehumidifier is in the basement right next to the washing machine. I'd rather not have to carry the full bucket upstairs and outside to water the plants. I do try to make sure the bucket is clean, no mold, slime, etc.

DO IT...NO HARM DONE EXCEPT ITS NOT FRESH SMELLING IF IT CAME FROM A MUSTY BASEMENT...BUT THE LAUNDRY DETERGENT WILL TAKE CARE OF THIS ESPECIALLY IF CLOROX IS ADDED

If your dehumidifier is like mine, then it has moss growing on the inside of the catch basin. I wouldn't recommend it. Yoda is on the right track though. Water your plants with it.

My basement is very difficult to get to in winter and there is no floor drain so washing machine seems a good answer as long as I keep a bit of bleach. There are no other drains..any one want to chime in?

I would NEVER use the water for washing clothes, but I would for flushing the toilet, watering plants, washing the floor outside.

I don't think this will be a good use of the water, However it would be good to water house plants and plants in your garden!

Keep in mind that the Legionnaires disease came from A/C drip pans. All kinds of unpleasant things are in that water. Don't do it!

How old is the water?
It may be stagnant
Is it really worth the effort, use it for your outdoor plants instead.
