I think you forget because while your shopping your thinking about what you want or need and how much money your spending and if you can afford it. Parking your car is the last thing on your mind once you've done it.

You answered you question before I could. Not fair!It is just a lack of concentration. When I get out of the car I stand next to it and find a marker, either inside the lot or in line with the exit. That way I have a idea of the direction I have to take when leaving the complex.

I know what you mean, Ive wondered myself. I think they make the parking lot so big and the store even bigger that you go in and are looking around shopping that you get to thinking about what your doing in the store and forget about the outside world. Then when you go outside to find your car the parking lot is so big that you end up going back inside and they hope that you will buy more stuff that you don't need. Its a plot to make more money!!

LOL
Once I had looked everywhere to find my car, then I finally spotted it and pressed the button to unlock the doors as I came closer. I could hear the beep and the sound of unlocking but as I tried to open, the doors were still locked... Okay, so I think for a while, telling myself that I had really heard something and press the button once again. Same thing, couldn't open the door... Totally puzzled and obviously embarrassed, I decided to look around to make sure nobody was watching me and to my surprise I realize I had been trying to open the wrong car, which looked exactly like the one I was driving and was parked a few spots away...
Dumb? no....like you said, it's the shopping effect! :-)

I had it once in an underground car park with two entrances:
M - Z and A - L
I forgot I came through entrance M- Z, parked my car near the M section so I have been looking for two hours in the A - L department. I wanted to report my car stolen but then the security guard came up to me and told me of the existence of section M - Z and told me he had been looking at me, desperately seeking my car, for almost two hours on his screen, laughing his brains out with a colleague.

Excellent question! Funny, but at the same time, I wonder the same thing...there have been far too many times I have spent 15 --30 minutes looking for my car! I seriously think I loose my mind when I pull in and park. good luck

My sister and I went into the mall, did our shopping and left found the car fine. I could not find my keys! I dumped my purse out on the hood and she helped me look . We could not figure it out we had to have the keys to get there and there was no way for them to fall out. Suddenly we both realized it was her car! LOL

Um, I've never had this problem. I've never lost my car, not even once! This sounds like something an air-head would do. If you don't think and use your brain, ofcourse you will lose stuff.

The stress of shopping!!!
People like me who likes to add things to other peoples' baskets & trolleys. You then get to the checkout & start thinkg "when did I put that in there?"
That's where the confusion starts!! lol :-)
