I recently moved with my leopard gecko from the mountains to the coast. As you can imagine, it's naturally much more humid here on the coast. I know leopard geckos need a humid spot when shedding, but my gecko's tank is now always hovering at about 65% humidity even with a dehumidifier in the room. Is this unhealthy for my gecko, or this level of humidity harmless? Thank you

Unless your gecko was bred and raised outdoors on a farm in Arizona, he hasn't been exposed to his 'true' environment in generations. Therefore, I'm sure he will adapt just fine to a more humid climate.

The humidity level should be fine. More important for shedding is a moist/humid place for your gecko to shed. If you haven't already, you should provide a covered container (from the petstore or from home) and put damp moss or a moist paper towel in the bottom. Just make sure that whatever is in the bottom is moist during the shedding period.

Your Leopard gecko would thank you if he could (for the move), I have had several of them in the past and I think its safe to say that they are my favorite gecko.

But I thought that geckos lived in tropical areas, coastal areas, and other hot humid areas in nature... My guess is that 65% humidity will be no problem.

40-60% is what is recommended for shedding aid in a humid box.
Not sure if their is long term health effects for being exposed to constant high humidity since in the wild they are from desert/clay arid areas in pakistan.

Overall, I am sure they should thrive for a long time.
