I think a lot of this depends on your gut instinct and whatever knowledge you have about the person/s. But if you are in doubt, then no. Wait for a while and then re-think.

Definitely no my best friend found that out the hard way, she spent thousands of dollars going overseas to meet this guy and ended up marrying him after only 4 days of meeting him in person, then it was a case of Dr Jekyll and Mr hide, all he wants is her to support him and constantly demands money, fortunately she is now back home where he can't get to her as he can't get a visa into Australia!

I think it all depends on your age and other factors like that. My mom met her husband on the internet and they're very happy. If you are over the age of 18 and take a friend with you and meet in a public place like a mall, it could be okay, but obviously you are questioning if you should do it, so you don't trust him and you should trust your gut.

The bottom line is that trust is something that is earned over time and if someone can hide behind an email address that could be anywhere ( you can set up an email address free ) how do you know anything about them other than what they want you to read.
Tread carefully and grow to be old and wise safely :)
If your friend has respect for you, he will understand your caution.
Andy - actually that is my name :)

Unfortunately most people are after their own interests. Think before you put complete trust in someone. I know it's a shame, but I think it takes years to prove yourself as a best friend.

Yes,
My best friend is online and I trust him with all my heart we've exchanged: Pictures, Addresses, Phone Numbers, ETC we've made plans to meet in April so we can get a good look at each other face to face.

The internet is fun, but I would never depend on finding a good friends on line as you DON'T know whether they are trust worthy. I would look for good people to meet in your own area. Usually the best friendships are found in a church community, whatever your religion is.

i say no,if you can't see the person you may find that they are not trust worthy and get your self into trouble.also if he is your best friend then i think he is trust worthy (but i don't know him so that's your opinion)and also friendship is relies on trust so keep that in mind while making friends because you may regret it.

Trust no one until you see them in person. The net has alot of crazy people who pretend to be the 'perfect' friend. I do it all the time... hehehe...
