My sister is a british christian and is married to a muslim, they have a young daughter and son and twice now he's shaved their heads without even telling her and then when she gets home from work she goes mad and he doesn't give her an explanation except for "thats what we do in our culture" and completely disrespects how she wants to bring up their children. I've told her next time to kick him in the nads and say "thats what we do in our culture"! why do they do it?

I am guessing her husband is either Indian or Pakistani? I am muslim, but it is not a part of Islam that he does this. Probably because he is Indian or Pakistani. My parents families used to do this back home as well (they are both from Pakistan.) In their eyes, the more you shave the childrens hair, the thicker their hair grows. Maybe he is a very traditional person and likes to follow his family's customs, but my parents don't do this. They think it's inappropriate for older kids to have shaved heads. Purhaps your sister can talk to him and tell him how she feels about it.

They don't. It's not a general Muslim thing. It must be some kind of practice connected to a small group of people. It sounds like the husband was afraid of a lice infestation of something equally gross. It might have something to do with something other than a religious practice.

i am in the military and i can say that i have been there and done that and never seen the Arabs shave their kids hair. Now on the other hand; the men do shave their heads, legs,armpits,groin, etc only when they are preparing to kill themselves and are going to see ALLAH. Generally most Arab men have beards, cause its suppose to show age and knowledge. But they have figured it out that we the US military now know their procedures so they don't shave before they kill themselves. If you check the airport cameras from 911 you will see that all the men were clean shaving Arabs.

it could only have to do with the husband's ethnic culture (which i still can't figure any predominantly moslem country that does that). it soo don't have nothin to do with the Moslem religion. otherwise, millions of kids across northern africa, mideast, south asia, and southeast asia would be shaved. maybe he comes from a small tribal village in the sahara?

um i never heard of that. must be some weird muslim cuz in our culture the girls wear a hijab and then men dont wear nothing and they can grow there hair out. thats really weird i dunno wats up wit that.
