OK, what is with fast-food restaurants? No matter what restaurant I go to, no matter what day of the week, no matter what time of the day; NO ONE can get my order right!

It is the same thing; be it burger, chicken, biscut, etc. - I always say the same thing; "NO CHEESE!"

And guess what I ALWAYS GET? - CHEESE!!

Are all these people robots that cannot think, cannot hear?

I once had the Manager of Dunkin Donuts re-do my order, after two previous attempts to get it right, only SHE PUT CHEESE ON MY SANDWICH TOO!!

Give me a break.

What do you think is wrong with these people?

Maybe they all find you particularly attractive and because there's no paper nearby have been writing their phone numbers down for you on the cheese slices. You might have been passing up on dozens of dates. Just a thought...

These folks are working as fast as they can go. When everyone else orders cheese they just naturally think you want it too.
Reminds me of an old story I heard once. A man learns about a magic rock on a beach covered in small black rocks. The problem was the magic rock was also a small black rock. The only way to tell the difference between them was the regular rocks were cool to the touch. The magic rock was warm to the touch. The man had an idea he would pick up each rock and if it was cool to the touch he would throw it into the sea. After twenty years of picking up rocks and throwing them into the sea he finally finds a rock that is warm to the touch. You know what he did with it?

He threw it into the sea because that was what he had been doing for the last twenty years. :-)

We always have that problem at our local Wendy's. Every time we go there they mess up our order. I guess we shouldn't even bother with going there anymore! Maybe they just get in such a big hurry that they don't pay attention or don't care. They are very robotic, as you mentioned, and it's like they have been programmed to do things one way and one way only. They fear change and cannot handle it, obviously! lol

For those who are offended by this answer, I am not putting down the fast food workers who actually take pride in their job and work hard to satisfy the customers! I am only referring to the ones that don't give a crap!!

Well, once you get in a rhythm of doing things, its hard to get out. These people are used to putting cheese on sandwiches, that are supposed to have cheese. Give them a break. Is it so hard for you to pull off the cheese, or nicely explain to them you didn't want cheese on your sandwich. Or how about this.... eat at home.

What is wrong is that the people from which you are buying your food are not paid anything close to a living wage. Therefore, what motivation do they have to even think about trying to make you happy? If you made less than two hundred stinkin bucks a week (after taxes) you wouldn't care much either.

They make $5/hour and they don't give a s**t. I know this because I used to work at Wendy's for 2 1/2 years.

I am lactose intolerant, so I get the unwanted cheese all the time. I think they are just drones who are not paid to think. When they get an order, they are on auto-pilot.

Who knows, but try jumping over the counter and squeezing their nose as you ask; or alternatively righting no cheese in permanent marker on their forehead...

Folks don't listen to each other anymore. We're all too wrapped up in our own drama, that it is hard to listen or sympathize or care about anyone else unless it directly benefits us in some way. That is really really sad.
