Pruning fruit trees is critical to keeping them alive and producing well. Here are a few links--some that tell how to prune specific trees and one that gives virtual pruning lessons for proper technique:

Note--Hazelnuts require very little pruning, but here's a site to help:

Happy Pruning :)

I have several good books on pruning. Order a good pruning book or go to your local library. It's an easy job once you get the hang of it. There is certain seasons to prune, so don't just go out there and start cutting! In my area it's early spring.

Contact the Extension Service of your state University. They have guides to pruning specific trees. They're very informative, with illustrations, and they are free - your tax dollars at work!

I agree with keepsondancing. Your County Extension people have lots of species- and area- specific info for you about any tree you might be able to grow. To find your local extension office number, you can look under your county' name in your local phone directory, or go online to your state university website and work from there.
