This question is interesting, but nearly impossible to even try to think of giving an answer. But, if hard-pressed, and in case of one of the scenarios you gave, I guess ultimately I would have to choose to save my child. My mother I have had in my life longer, and she has lived a longer life than my child, so I guess therein is my rationale.

I would save my son. This will be a difficult choice to make at the time depending on the situation. Now, here there is time for deliberation. In a crisis situation there may not be.

As a parent, this question is not difficult for me at all... I would save my son. And my mother would want it that way as well.

Its like Sophie's Choice -- heart wrenching movie.

I am certain that my mother would tell me to save the child. She is a very brave woman.

What a dilemma, torture or bluff- I'll pray God gives me the strength and courage to save both. And I will trust and accept God's holy will and outcome for the best.

Wow, I don't even know if I could handle having to make a decision like that. I don't even want to speak it into existence, and I pray I am never in that situation.

They teach you in lifeguarding to save the youngest. Because the oldest has had more time to enjoy life. I agree with this philosophy.

there is no specific answer here. in the type of situations you describe , one doesn't get time to deliberate and act. one act spontanously . may be one grab a person who is nearer to you . and if there is time to deliberate the mother will tell to save her grand child , i am sure.
