even tho some people have accounts at esnipe.com(like i do, we can go in as close as 3 seconds til auction ends), unfortunately, even with esnipe, i have still been outbid.
but like the other person suggested, have 2 windows open to that auction etc.
good luck!!

Tell me if this doesn't make sense to you: There are people out there trying the same method you are trying - how are you going to know until it's over how you did with that finale bid? There are peolpe out there using programs designed to make the high and finale bid - how are you to know that you can beat that?
The solution is to bid the absolute maximum you're willing to bid. You will only have to pay the lowest ammount that beat the next higher bidder. In other words, if you bid $2000 and the next highest bidder bids $1000 then you only have to pay the next increment over the $1000 in order to get your item. The increment is posted on the page where the item is being auctioned.
Also, this helps to avoid over bidding. It also helps in case of a tie - Ebay will award the first to make the bid.
good luck
BTW someone may have already placed the highest bid. What you are seeing is the lowest bid to make the high bid mark by an individual.
Hey, it's been 3 hours since you posted this question. That's an hour and a half beyond the time limit you posted, HOW'D YOU DO? We'd all like to know. At least I'm curious!

No, that's the risk a Seller has to accept when they put an item up for bidding. A seller sets a low opening bid to encourage bidding. They can set a reserve price to make sure they get a minimum price, but they must accept the final bid. Some sellers rig the auction by padding the shipping costs. That means they add extra $$$ to the shipping cost to get more money out of the buyer.

This is completely dependant on three things. 1. Network connection. (if you have dial up I would not wait past thirty seconds. If you have DSl, cable or sattelite, you should be alright). 2. Check to see how many people looked at the item. There may be a battle at the end. 3. How bad do you actually need this item? How fast can you submit compared to others and how high will you bid? Based on these three items it will be worth you trying this. REMEMBER: Check with yourself about what type of connection you have and base off of that.

I would say do it now, cause no matter what what ever ur highest bid is, someone may want it more then u and bid higher.. regardless if its last minute then ur screwed at least if u bid it now u will see if there willing to go higher just keep hitting refresh latest i would submit the bid is 5 min before it ends..

Put in the MAXIMUM you will pay and let the system do the bidding for you, up to your max bet. That way, you don't have to worry about refreshing and bidding on time. Now, you just need to figure out the maximum you want to pay for this (plus shipping).

that all depends on your isp(your internet connection speed, if you have dial up then i'd recommend 30 seconds (or more)
if you have dsl or cable (high speed) then 10-15 seconds (give yourself enough time just incase your out bidded i'd use 30 second (that way you might have enough time to bid again)

Atleast 5 seconds before. I'd open up three windows. one for refreshing, one for the second highest bid you want and the third one for the ultimate highest bid you'd use. 2.5 seconds on the first bid and 2.5 seconds on the 3rd!

Bid higher.
You might place your insanely high bid when there are two minutes left.
Good luck

Place the highest bid you can afford right now! I've tried the two windows trick and found it not entirely reliable--as well as anxiety -provoking. If the other guys want your item badly enough, they'll outbid you anyway.
