YES , by holding the magnet along the axis of the coil and turning the magnet about the diameter of the coil.....................

Absolutely. It doesn't matter if a magnetic field is moved through the coil of wire or the coil of wire is moved through a magnetic field. Put simply, when electrical current passes through a wire, it is surrounded by a magnetic field. This is due to the movement of the electrons in the wire. And if a magnetic field is moved past a wire, it induces a current in the wire - it forces the electrons in the wire to move in relation to the magnetic field. yes its called an electromagnet. i had a really hard time in class when we studied electricity so i dont know how it does it it just does.
