You may want to check out Canadian Affair (http://www.canadian-affair.com/) as they have flights from UK to Toronto starting at £99 one way including taxes, and from UK to Calgary starting at £149. You should be able to get a decently priced flight from those locations to Winnipeg - for example, a one way Air Canada flight from Toronto to Winnipeg is £56.

air canada, west jet is cheaper though....take a 'standby' flight. Youll wait a bit longer in the airport but youll get a much cheaper price. If you dont know what standby is its when a flight is about to leave and someone didnt show up for their seat so the airline resells the seat for cheap
