Does anyone know if there is a way to get a wrench on the belt tensioner on a 3.1 liter buick skylark

Use a 3/8" ratchet or breaker bar to move the tensioner, then while holding it, remove the belt. To install the new belt follow the diagram that should be under your hood. Once installed release the tensioner and the job is done.

Pretty easy.

That motor showed up in a ton of GM products and there should be a way to adjust the belt tension. The trick is getting your hand in there from the top (it may be more easily accesible from underneath, but only on a lift) and having the correct tool. Sometimes, car manufacturuers use less common tools, like a tor-x bolt, for things so the everyday person can't do it.

A 3/8" flex head ratchet will work...there is a place to insert it on the tensioner.
