The legality of shoot someone in self-defense is determined at the state level; ergo, it depends on the state.

I shot one of my multiple personalities the other day because I couldn't control her any longer!!
I figured it was a form of self defense considering I was either going to implode if I had to control my internal monologue any more or get my A#* beat to death for not being able to!!!
All about sacrifice for the greater good!!

Absolutely. It's why I went to the trouble of getting a permit. It's why I carry a gun. It's why I practice with it. Not to be aggressive, but to protect myself and my wife.
As Mr. T used to say (and still does, for all I know), "Pity the fool" who tries to mug me.
Oh, and BTW, Georgia just passed a law that you only have to "perceive" a danger to yourself in order to use deadly force. So don't even LOOK like you're gonna mug me in my home town.
At least Georgia residents have the right to protect themselves without having to match reflexes with a 19-year-old hoodlum.

Most of us are capable of that instinct for choosing a weapon for defense, that is why it is wise to know before the moment not from bravery but a deeper searching question, Is this the answer to the moment. because the weapon we choose can be also used against us. We choose wars and weapons. we choose out of wisdom not pride .

If it's at your house, and there's proof of somebody breaking in, or you have a witness that can prove the person attacked you, then yeah.
but if it's outside, in the streets, you could actually get in trouble for carrying the weapon on you...for no apparent reason!
But im no law-major. Im simply using logic!

Yes that's why I don't carry around a gun. That's why I'm glad not to be in the country where guns outnumber the people.
