Boarding a Silverlink train at Stratford. I had slip ons and a commuter stepped on the back and it slipped off onto the track. The woman in question was so rude she barged onto the train and sat down as though nothing had happened. I was left hobbling on the platform. Fortunately I was with two colleagues. I had to miss the train to try and obtain my sandal from the platform. Once the train had departed, my colleague who is about 5ft jumped down, retrieved my shoe and myself and the other colleague hauled her up. If it wasnt for them I really dont know what I would have done. I was home late that evening, but at least I had my BOTH my shoes!!!

I never lost a shoe but I have done something very embarrassing with my boots. I had left my favourite boots (Timberland ones) in my friends but I wanted to wear them. I knew my brother had the same pair (they're unisex) but they were too big so I just added an extra pair of socks and didn't think anything of it. I went to town to shop, then to University and then hit the gym before going home. Throughout the day I had noticed people looking down at my boots but I just thought they noticed that they were too big for me but when I got home I realised that I had the shoes on the wrong feet! I just didn't realise because I couldn't feel through the thick pairs of socks.

Embarrassing shoe stories isn't very common with me, but when I was around 7 years old or so, we were playing a "shoe kick" game at school and my shoe went straight to the top of the roof of the school building. Luckily it was the end of the school day, so I didn't have to walk around with one shoe all day. The next day the embarrassment came on when the principal decided to hold a special address to the school to discourage the students from being as irresponsible as the student who lost her shoe.

I am a male so have never lost a shoe, but your question ties in with one I asked earlier. Would it be even more embarrassing if a man rescued your shoe, or a woman, or would it make no difference?

I lost a high heeled shoe at a wedding one time. It was so embarrassing. I had taken them off under the table, and I guess it got shuffled around somewhere. Never did find it, and we couldn't exactally leave because it was my brother in laws wedding, and my husband was the best man. To top it off, there was a request for the family to dance. I will never live that one down.

Well Goody when I was younger I was going to work one morning in winter in mini skirt, high heels and of course warm jacket. Unfortunately I had to pass a building site and of course the workmen starts calling and whistling. I was late for work and in a bit of a bad mood. I turned aside and showed the victory sign. Well in an instant the heel of my shoe went backwards and broke. You know .. so I had to walk with a limp up and down and the ground was wet. I hobbled back home in annoyance whilst the whole building site was in stitches and laughed out loud. Embarassment was not enough of a word to describe how I felt.

In Venice. Walking around the streets in mules when this idiotic running kid of about six stepped on my foot. When I yanked it out from under him my shoe came sailing into the canal. Wearing a beaded cocktail dress I hobbled back into my hotel ( a 30 minute walk) with no shoe. It was high tide and my foot smelled like a sewer.

When I was about 3 years old I had this weird little habit of kicking my shoe of my foot to make it fly into the air (yep, I was a psycho). One day, we went to a restaurant as a family to have dinner, and I kicked my shoe in the air, and watched it fly into someone else's soup. The soup went all over him. Luckily he wasn't angry, and just gave the shoe back to me.
