You don't play them on a video and they don't come on video tapes so why are they generically called video games???

I think it is because it was first displayed via a video display system...Anyway, +20 years ago, computer software were on tape looking like miniature video tapes...may be it come from that era.

Because a game is a form of entertainment and it is projected as video, you can't really have a picture game.

- games is something you play
- so video games is something you play from a screen, its pretty self explanatory

cause they are precorded and you play them on a video screen and cause you play them like games on the computor
