My baby does fine in resturants. I'm not the kind of parent that would let the baby scream, anyways. I know what it's like for everyone else. And, no, I wouldn't take her to a movie theater. I didn't ask where I was not allowed to take a baby.

Take her to the park. Assist her on a small slide and maybe even a swing if there are child ones available. Look in to Gymboree Play & Learn classes. Look in to your local library for activities, for instance our library has a class called Book Babies, where someone reads a story and there is singing and dancing and stuff. See if there is a Children's Museum in your area. A simple thing to do and is free, go to your local mall and see if there is a play area. Most malls have these places that children can climb on things and play. You could also go swimming. These are just a few ideas for you. Hope this helps.

When my daughter was 10 months we took her to an aquarium. She loved it! She would sit and watch the fish swim around. She had a great time.

As for the people who say not to take her to restaurants -- GET A LIFE! There is no reason why you can't take her to a restaurant. I would much rather be in a restaurant with screaming babies then with smokers any day!!! When my daughter was 3 months old we took her to a very nice german restaurant in Manhattan. They were completely booked that day but we had reservations. I had to hold her in my lap the whole time as there wasn't enough room for a high chair. It was so loud in there with all the people, but guess what? She flirted with the people behind us and also slept some. The older couple behind us who are frequent patrons came up to us on their way out and told us to bring her any time we wanted. She was much more well behaved than most of the people at the bar!

You can pretty much take her anywhere you go. Actually, you SHOULD take her pretty much wherever you go because that's how she'll learn to behave different places. ANYWHERE you take her will be stimulating and interesting for her because there are new sights and sounds and bright colors, etc.

zoo
Children's Museum
festivals
restaurants
library story times
park
walks around the neighborhood - in cold weather walk indoors at the mall
mall or fast food play areas
baby and me type classes - try the parks department or the library or Gymboree
grocery shopping
swimming
botanical garden
concerts in the park

Take her wherever YOU want to go (provided it is a safe place for a baby) and do what YOU find interesting. Babies absorb everything around them, and learn from all situations since everything is so new. It could be anything from going to the grocery store or a walk around the block. The key is interaction that you are having with her. Teach her about her environment by naming objects for her, give her safe things to touch, smell, ect. Read, read, and read to her-especially those books that are touchy feely. My kids were just as entertained as a trip to the zoo doing every day things.

Fun for you, or fun for the baby? A 10 month old won't really know the difference.... virtually any visual stimulation will amuse the baby

I have taken my baby, also 10 months, to the circus, childrens theatre, the aquarium, swimming pool, she loves the grocery store and other errands I have to run, the park, the beach, anywhere where there are other kids.

i agree with the first answer....do NOT take her to any restaurants or movie theater's it's disrespectful to the people around you....yeah the zoo is a good idea...maybe a kid's museum too..or a park, you could also always take her to like chucky cheese or something similar to that..

I would say you can take her pretty much anywhere you go. As long as you're interesting during the slow moments, or theres pleanty to look at then it would be stimulating for her.

do you have a snugli backpack that you can take her out in? I take my son hiking in that quite a bit, he loves being outside and seing things pass us by, but not many trails are fit for his jogger... we also take our dogs to the dog park whenever I don't work. he laughs and laughs when he sees the dogs playing, but I sould be careful when there is a dog you don't know.

some of the museums have a room where they let childrn touch stuff. Also a children's museum. The local Y might have activites for infants and toddlers.
