I was looking at the new Final Fantasy 7 comming out for the PS3 and it made me want to play my old Final Fantasy 7 on the PS2 which ive done in the past.

I put the disk it after cleaning it up as i could and ill admit it doesn have some scratches on it but that hasnt stoped me from playing it before.

I put the disk in and it seems as though the game is going to play as the Playstation 2 see's the disk in there and then a black screen occurs like its going to play but all i get is the black screen.

What should i do i do to be able to play the game?

Sorry to burst your bubble SuperTuna, but FF7 IS coming out for the PS3. There was a tech demo as you mentioned, and they later confimed the game but with changes, like possibly using the FF12 battle system instead of the original system. Needless to say, I'm excited.

How is the PS2? It could be that the laser is having issues (A well know issue on ps2's) but if it's only coming up black screen it sounds like more of a disc thing. Try another disc and see if you can get it to load (A psx disc, maybe another from the FFVII set). If the otehr psx game loads, odds are it's your disc. If not, must be the ps2. Also, get a tray cleaning disc and clean out the system.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you!

sounds like the laser eye is not reading the disc properly. does it play other games just fine? if so, just repair the disc like that other guy said.

also, the tech demo has nothing to do with a remake of any kind. it is only to show the power of the PS3.

also, the game FFVII was never made for PS2. it was for the original playstation. because it was the first FF on a new console played by younger (now they are 15-21) crowd, they think that FFVII is more than a sucky game.

don't get me wrong, i love FF, but VII was the first game that started bringing the gaming value of the final fantasy name down. [not the money value, mind you, the actual game value, what you get from the game]

Sorry to burst your bubble but FFVII is NOT coming out for the PS3. If you've seen the video, it's only a technical demo for the system's hardware.

Best chance for your game is to get a disc repair tool ($10-20). I've spun plenty of "non-working" discs in there and they always come out working!
