1 - why did yoda run away from the battle w/the emperor? if memory serves, he used that jedi shock wave to knock the emperor backwards and the force knocked yoda back as well and he fell. did yoda get angry, realizing anger was the only way to defeat a foe as powerful as the emperor, and that's why he said "i have failed," because he couldnt defeat him otherwise?
2 - if yoda could move a starship(as in "the empire strikes back") and all manner of heavy things, why couldn't he stop himself from falling, using the force, during his battle w/the emperor?
3 - i'm sorry but this prequel trilogy really emasculated darth vader...w/all due respect to entertainment weekly's poll of the baddest villains ever, khan from star trek 2 reigns way supreme - no redeeming value whatsoever, just pure evil, hellbent on revenge/death, and loving it! they should've kept vader unsympathetic and forgotten all that crap about his wife being in danger being the reason he turned to the darkside - blah!!!

The Episode III book has a lot of stuff about what people (like Yoda and Anakin) were thinking that the movie did not depict very well.
1. Yoda realized that he had been wrong about battling the Sith. He was there when the last Sith Lord was deposed 800 yrs before. His whole teaching philosophy was based on that event. Unfortunately the Sith changed the rules choosing to work with deception rather than outright power. Yoda realized that he had been beaten long before Sidious even revealed himself and that his powers had grown weak (at least in comparison to the strengths of Sidious). The only master that could beat Sidious in battle was Windu and Anakin surprised him by turning to the dark side.
2. Moving objects through the force is different than stopping a fall. A Jedi can slow his fall (as Yoda surely did or else he would have been squashed by the long fall) but a Jedi cannot fly (although a Jedi can levitate). A Jedi can use the force as a repulser to float against something but like repulsor beams (at least in the Star Wars universe) there needs to be something close enough to push against. Luke Skywalker in one of the books bailed out of a crashing fighter and used the force sort of like a parachute although he stil broke his leg.
3. Once Lucas decided to make Vader into Luke's father, he had to find some way to humanize him in order to fall in love and have a child (well children) or else Vader would have had to raped someone but that would be a little over the edge. Baddest villians ever... Khan is certainly one of the best but then he went a little crazy obessing about revenge egged on by the death of his wife. I personally thought Episode III was disturbing because it reminds us that none of us are completely good. The dark side is present in all of us. The question becomes, "what would it take for us to turn to the dark side?" and become maybe not a Vader (or Hitler) but someone who wants to do the right thing but using the wrong means. Like most people who might be labeled "bad people," we usually don't start out with the goal to be a Vader (or for example an alcoholic or addict) but first we compromise a little then a little more and then a little more until we have finally arrived at Z not suddenly from A but gradually moving through each progression. Again, the Episode III book depicts a lot more of the anguish and inner turmoil that Anakin was feeling immediately prior to going to Palpatine's office.
I hope this helps.

For start, the way they did prequal trilogy was wrong. I have watched original backwards (I was to young when Star wars -New Hope and Empire Strikes Back apered) and it seemed ok even that way. They should have started with 3rd part and then go backwards. That way they would done less errors.
1. I have never pictured Yoda as warrior. He was the teacher, and holly man in some way. Someone that don't fight. I didn't even see Jedis as monks like they were presented in prequals, but more as Knights or Crussaders. I think that main reason Yoda said he faild was because of fall he haven't got enough time to go back and continue the fight before troops appear. Even though he is very powerfull being, he can't fight whole army by hinself and win.
2. Main reason is that probably he lost concentration. And also he have enough power to move other things but he can not fly or levitate himself.
3. Return of the Jedi already did that. At the end he is good again, so they didn't mess thing up in prequals. They did show that lot of evil things comes from the men that thought they did the right thing. I didn't like the way Anikin become Jedi. I always tought that he and Obi-Wan have met on some spaceship, in battle probably, when Anikin was about same age as Luk.

1- Yoda "ran" away because he knew he was beaten, and that there was more important things to worry about, like almost all the Jedi around the galaxy begin taken out one by one and should retreat and wait for the right moment to help in the fight agents the Dark Side.
2- I think that he was kinda taken by surprise that he was knocked off in the first place and didn't have enough time to consecrate on the act of stopping himself.
3-OK so how would you suggest we turn him to the Dark Side at the same time as telling the story of how he had a wife who gave birth to twins, other then for reasons dealing with her, you have to remember that Khan was "evil" for the same reasons he blamed Kirk for the death of his wife, i guess that Vader just decided to take hes pain out on every Jedi he met including his old teacher and later his own son.
hopes this helps a little bit.

Yoda's fight with the Emperor had to end in defeat. Otherwise it would have contradicted the storyline set in the orginal (and far better) trilogy. If Yoda had defeated the Emperor, the Republic could have been reestablished, and Anakin/Vader would have died of his wounds on Mustafar. Since Yoda was defeated...hello "A New Hope."

like I said it was just a movie, I feel bad for you, I really do, your putting way to much into something you should be able to just sit back relax and enjoy, maybe the more important question you should be asking yourself is why can't I just sit back and enjoy a good movie for what it is?
