".............. I'm going to tell you a secret, and if you take it seriously, I can
guarantee that school will become at least ten times easier for you,
for as long as you continue in school. The secret is this: Never
walk into a classroom without knowing ahead of time what the teacher
is going to say! If you have a textbook or a reading list, read the
relevant part _before_ each lecture, rather than hearing it for the
first time in the lecture.
This _sounds_ like a lot of extra work, but it's not. Suppose you
have lectures A, B, and C that cover reading material a, b, and c.
Most students would do this:
Listen to A; read a; listen to B; read b; listen to C; read c.
I'm suggesting that you do this instead:
Read a; listen to A; read b; listen to B; read c; listen to C.
As you can see, it's the same amount of work. Only the order is
different. And the reason the order is so crucial is the one I've
already mentioned: If you don't understand something in the reading
material, you can ask about it in the lecture where the material is
covered, which is no extra trouble for the teacher. But if you try to
ask a question about yesterday's material in today's lecture, the
teacher will be impatient to move on, and it's likely that you won't
get the answer you need, if you get one at all. ........."

Forget late nights out and start revising your work daily after school. Jot down notes of your studies on papers and read them before going to sleep or immediately as you wake up.(These will help you most when you'll be having your exams cause they're piled up short notes!) Do not believe those who stay late studying, that's not life. And do have short breaks and watch tv but do not exaggerate!
Good luck!!
(I've done this this year and I've got 11 o-levels!!)

Pay attention in class, get interested in the class, get others interested in it so you have someone to discuss it with, the more you talk about it the more you will retain the information being taught. Get a recorder and tape the teacher etc. Join or form a study group.

You need a plan and you need to stick to it. Plan to study at least a couple hours each night. Make education a priority in your life and you will not be disappointed when grades come out.

i'm also studying in the university so here's a tip...
always sleep early, it helps you the following day to be active and alert to listen to lessons and lecture, always listen to the professor, make notes so you can recall the past lessons, in that way you can be sure you have recall the lessons for an exam or quiz, never pass up lunch or dinner or more importantly, BREAKFAST.. it is important to start the day and lastly, always study early and sleep early.. always stay calm and say to yourself "i can do it"!.. hope it helps..

Focus on your goal. Write down your goal before shcool starts and write down one thing you have accomplished every day to meet your goal. Stay on top of homework and make sure your family and friends know you are serious. Ask them to support you and ask for help if you need help. Schools are eager to help the kids who show the desire to learn.
