Being in the closet is not a bad condition.

However, those who leave the closet are intent upon getting everybody out, and they want everyone to celebrate their problems.. I'm not sure why they take such a strong position on getting out of the closet but consider the following:

Being in the closet means you recognize that you have some traits or problems that even you don't like. You would prefer not to have them, but you didn't have a choice. You could join the alternative culture, but it disgusts you. Or you can practice some self-control and get along the best you can.

By doing the second choice you are givng honor to your family, to your friends, and society in general.

Perhaps someday, there may be someone who you confide in, perhaps a trusted friend, or your mother, etc.. You will find that if you tell them that you choose not to express this trait but to battle it, and stay in the closet, that they will admire you.

Sometimes it can be a good thing, but why would you want to hide who you really are. It took me 50 years to come out and i would'nt go back into the closet for nothing.

If u come out of the closet be sure u have plenty gay friends, as 60% of straight will not except u or want any thing to do with u. I have been half in for many years, glad I have had both lives gay and straight , If they don't ask don't tell, its your business not anyone Elise's. Best of luck

Absolutely!!! I'm not particularly out at work. Not because I'm embarrassed, its because I need not explain to my coworkers my sexual orientation because they are not personal friends of mine and they don't need to know. However, besides that I lead a pretty open Lesbian life. My friends and family are all aware of my lifestyle and I'm engaged to be married to a woman. Life is good in and out of the closet.

it can probably save your life if say your in a third world country where they don't look to fondly upon those who are out of the closet. but in general, its best not to hide things like that from people you know best.

It's good and bad, It's good for living up to what some loved ones want you to be but then again it's bad when you get my age and even though you love the people your with you feel messed up inside and don't feel complete.

If it's to have some privacy, to recollect memories, to gather yourself up, to consider your ways, the closet might qualify as a good sanctuary. Otherwise, it's not.

Depends on your age, your circumstances, no one answer here. I advise all younger people to keep it to themselve until they are competely on their own...no sense in taking a chance of being thrown out of the house, and that happens. If you are on your own, it is competely up to you. Good luck
