In solids the molecules are tightly packed without any spaces.
the intermolecular force is high as a result the molecules cannot
move from their places, only they vibrate for this reason solids have a defnite shape and volume.

generally they have definite shapes and sizes, atomic bonding is strong that's why they tend to be in its solid state
