"...National autonomy is the only system consistent with the promotion of democracy.... Democracy is reduced to an empty form if representative and participatory processes at the national level are given no role in determining (global) economic and social developmental strategies. It should be clear that undermining that role is an unconcealed objective of the reforms & free trade agreements that institutionalized them...."(J. Ocompo, UN economic executive secretary 2003)

And to the extent that the USA is at the center of these global neo-liberal policies...I would say the rest of the world is twisting in the wind. At least the major 99% of us and the whole environment to boot....! Don't be fooled...we are in A LOT OF TROUBLE!
How can one person change this reality? Please think of something if you haven't so far!

Has the USA ever truly been democratic? The USA was not established by the majority.

The dominant opulent minority through strategic planning, economic foresight, and mental manipulation of the masses established the USA, while ignoring the rights of others. Remember the Holucast of the indigenous population and free imported labor.

The USA and Britain have always been "strange bedfellows." If there had been a successful rebellion from 1776 onward, by the indigenous population and/or the decendants of the captive peoples from Africa, that would have resulted in a finacial loss for not only the opulent minority as well as the opulent minority in Britain. Do you not think that the Brits would have come to the aid of those who had disassociated themselves from its rule. Remember treasury secretary Hamilton sought economic relationship shortly after the USA was established.

Neither democracy nor Christain affilition stood in the way of their objective to dominate land and people. The USA started as 13 states, yet they have 37 more. How did this happen? Not by democracy, the indigeneous people did not vote in favor of it?

We are in trouble if we believe that ONE person can change the conditions. Historical evidence supports this. consider: Huey Long, ML King, Frank Wills, Geronimo, Malik Shabazz, R.Kennedy, and others who either lost their lives or lived their lives without witnessing significant change. It has to be the One Person within us all that values Liberty for All, that ultimately changes things for the common good. Remember the first 3 words of the US Constitution are "WE the People." This make all of the citizens responsible.

A person who does not look into themselves is like a house without mirrors. The same could be same of nations and cultures as well. The culture of the USA from its inception was dependent on abuse of Humans by Humans. The same is true of Brittain. In the USA it was legal for a man to abuse a wife, especially a slave wife. It was legal to perpetuate slavery through a slave wife. It was legal to father children from slave children. The core behaviour does not disappear overnight. To work people as if they were livestock or machines for very small pay is still prevalent in the society. There are economic papers telling how to increase profit by reducing labor cost. This makes sense, but not at the expense of Human dignity. The USA is born of a meanspiritedness. Strange for te place with the most of everything. I guess its not what you have, it is what youdo with it that counts.

In study of physics & nature, water seeks its own level. Perhaps we are witnessing the true level of the USA. Wise citizens do things in accordance with wisdom. This includes choosing political representatives.

"You don't always get what you pay for, but you will always pay for what you get." -Fredrick Douglas

The Golden Rule would be a good place to start for improvement for any nation.

You are absultely correct to be serious and to observe that we are in trouble. What is the point of having an APA or a Surgeon General if no objective assessment of the mentality of the society? Business abusing and Bullying employees to the point where the employee is traumatized. This is the mentality reflected in the society. A society that discourages Free-Thinking, while encouraging blind following, & acceptance of mental manipulation. Perhaps the APA, AMA & other professional organiztions are too far corrupted to have a view that contradicts their purse.

Individual citizens lack respect for one another, even in cyber-space. The operative word here is Cyber. We are supposed to be concisiousness meeting consciousness. I am always delighted to observe the post of those with that understanding. Some fall short of the mark.

If there is such a thing as intelligent extraterestial sentient life, and they are able to observe Earth, it is no wonder why there has been no contact. Humans on Earth have much growing up to do.

Obama desires to end coverage firms from screwing the yankee human beings incorrect: 0'bama desires to hire well being care as a utility to place greater administration over the economic equipment with the federal government. Obama debated his plans earlier the election for healthcare. although authentic, it rather is irrelevant. He did no longer deliver a plan to congress for a vote. no longer between the 5 plans into attention is his. The reforms Obama needs artwork interior the Netherlands and Switzerland. no longer something 0'bama 'needs' mimics the Netherlands nor Switzerland. it rather is a sturdy ingredient too. Netherlands and Switzerland mixed in basic terms have approximately 24 million human beings. it rather is in basic terms over the inhabitants of the enormous apple metropolitan section on my own. They neither have a deployable defense force. We pay for that. The theory that a healthcare plan that serves a inhabitants of two US substantial cities will by some skill hide a rustic of three hundred million people who're charged with the fee of world secure practices is absurd.

Watching and wondering.

If the US can manage to become a Republic so be it.
China and N. Korea are the 2 main Republics still surviving. Chaotic consequences await for those who dont know (yet) how to act in a true Republic. Less problems for the rest of the world, particularly US enemies. Big problems for America, particularly for those who prefer democracy, and the freedoms democracy espouses.

The sheep have been told the grass is green, so they blissfully chew the cud and repeat 'the grass is green'.

Its gonna be interesting.

P.S. Keep voting for a Republic and find out.

Nothing, why does it matter to the rest of the world whether the US is democratic? Britain is just about the only country that officially cares about the US, and when Blair is gone anyone who follows them too closely would be in a lot of trouble with the public, like Blair is now.

If the UK did not do the things the ACLU and Democrats scream about the airliners would have come down. Get off your high horse and realize we are in a terrible war calling for extreme protective measures.
