I'm taking my three teenage daughters to Cancun - alone! Ugh!! We've never done anything like this before and I want to be sure they (ok, and me) have a blast! We're staying all-inclusive, but I want to be sure I've lined up things to do. ANY help would be appreciated.

Do not panic! there are plenty of family activities and they can have fun at night on their own while you chill out at some terrific lounge, so here are some suggestions:

1. Congrats for you: the courage to take teenagers to Cancun on your own, Hats of the Master
2. All inclusive is the way to go: everything is included (food, snacks, beverages, activities...etc.), make sure you don´t miss your wrist plastic bands
3. Archeological site-seeing: Chichen Itza (4 hours from Cancun), Tulum (1 hour from Cancun) or anyother around 1 hour
4. Natural Parks: Xcaret is a family experience that will blow your mind, do not miss the show at night, quite impressive and your girls will like it too.
5. Xel-Ha is another favourite: natural water caves, lagoons and fauna that you will love for sure
6. Acquaworld: they have all kind of water activities: cruises, snorkeling, lagoon trips, etc.
7. Fiesta Americana Acqua: Don´t miss the lounge, is pricey but worth it
8. Dining: Outback (great portions and you can all share), there are a number of theme restaurants to choose from...there are large food courts in every mall so you can save some money there.
9. Kukulcan Mall: The Best One...it has movie theaters, bookstores, art display, great franchises, great luxury boutiques and here and there shows in the main entrance.
10. The Golden Cruise: a trip to Isla Mujeres with everything included
11. At the airport you will be given a magazine called Cancun Tips and Cancun Map: that! right there you have your Bible, it will guide you and all sorts of fun, activities, short trips, advices, etc.

Just relax and enjoy the beauty around you...Cancun will prove to be a wonderful experience for both you and your girls...Welcome to Mexico!!!

My wife and I (late 20's) just got back from Cancun yesterday, and it was very nice. We really enjoyed Chichen Itza, however depending on your daughters interests, they might find it boring and a very long drive (either with a tour or on your own). I would absolutely recommend Xel-Ha for you, it is a "water park" (not like in the states) that is a beautiful lagoon, tubing, snorkling, inclusive restraunts and bars, hammocks, etc. Very much worth the money. The dance clubs in Cancun are very high end, depending on the ages of your daughters, but I would recommend caution in this area as they get a little crazy.

Teenage? Well they should love Ixtapa for the day. Then water slides not too far away. Isle Mujeres another day. I spent a lot of time in Cancun with my daughter and she enjoyed swimming with the porpoise in the shopping center area, but make previous appointments a day or two ahead. You can even go to Wal Mart further in town. Like previous writer said take a trip further in to Cancun. Only thing to watch is all inclusive will give underage children alcohol if it matters to you. enjoy

Don't worry you all will have a blast. There is tons of shopping to do right in the Hotel Zone in Cancan. They have great beaches of course. Little islands you can go to for a day. Great natural water parks like Xel-Ha and Xcaret. Mayan ruins like Tulum, and so much more natural parks. Of course your girls probably know that in Mexico they are allowed to all the clubs and most likely have drinks, so if you are that kind of mother you and your daughters can also have a great night clubbing, without the liquor of course, but they'll have a blast.

Tulum on the beach, camping, huts next to the ruins. Good fish to eat, lots back packers and travelers to talk and party with. Cancun is nice, but just an expensive city.

Chichen-Itza: You and the girls will be amazed.

Also, get away from the touristy parts of Cancun to see how the real people of Mexico live. The level of poverty is astounding.

Don't drink the water!

Between cancun and cozumel... you can just go with the flow... there is so much to do... take advantage of local trips and offers and have fun and there is no real need to plan ahead.

You can check with the official Mexican tourist site, though.

"righton" means Xecaret, not Ixtapa. Ixtapa is a city on the other side of the country. Xercaret is the very large eco-water park south of Cancun. You and the girls will enjoy it.
