Combo style. Box some things, bag others, and simply carry the rest.

I'm a gatherer, lol. I can move in a single day, it's really kind of sad. I have a lot of those gallon containers (like 35-50 gal) and on the day I move, I get up and just start packing everything up. By evening, I'm done and everything is on the van. Last time I moved, I didn't even have a van. I used a family member's Bronco truck. We made 5 or 6 trips, and I was done.

I use boxes most of the time but there r instances when clothes are in a black waste bag. So I guess u and your g/f can compromise. You can pack in boxes while she can just gather in plastic bags or whatnot. It's really not that important, as long as u have a good and smooth move to your new home. Good luck. ;o)

Definitely box it up... that way you know exactly where things go. Plus, if you're using movers, a lot of them won't take stuff that isn't boxed.

I find that the use of boxes is easier and less time-consuming. Less trips back and forth, if you ask me. And it's easier to carry than things that may drop and break.
